Competitive Saber Camp 2026 with NCAA Coach Joe Zanko
Join us Aug 3-7 for our 2026 Competitive Camp with Drew University NCAA Head Coach Joe Zanko! Coach Zanko has extensive experience coaching kids, teens, and young adults through his work with high school teams, the college team, and private fencing clubs. We can’t wait to welcome him to St. Louis!
Bio: Joseph began fencing in 2006 at Fordham University’s club program. After graduating he began fencing with Ron Margulis at the Westfield Fencing Club, eventually joining its coaching staff as Assistant Sabre Coach. Joseph then transitioned to Hub City Fencing in Edison in 2010 to improve both his fencing and his coaching. His original part-time coaching duties at Hub City Fencing grew to include the instruction of classes in all three weapons as well as private students. After close to a decade of working at Hub City Joseph joined the coaching staff of Manchen Academy of Fencing as its Head Sabre Coach. There he has produced regional, National and NCAA sabre fencers.
Alongside working at private fencing clubs, Joseph has also coached New Jersey high school teams since 2014, as an assistant coach at Lawrenceville, Head Coach at Gill St. Bernard’s, and Head Coach at Montgomery High School, where the women’s team went on to be 2021-2022 NJ HS State Champions. This earned him the title of state coach of the year for New Jersey from the NJ coaches association. On the heels of that success Joseph was offered the position of Head Coach for Drew University's Mens and Womens Fencing teams. During his first four seasons with the Rangers Joseph has qualified dozens of his fencers for NCAA regionals and improved his teams' performances in the MACFA, EWFC and NIWFA fencing conferences. In August of 2025, Joseph was awarded the title of Prévôt d’Armes from the US Fencing Coaches Association, National Coaches Development Program.
